Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you'll be warmly received and transferred to your hotel in Siliguri, a bustling town at the foothills of the Himalayas. Take the day to relax after your journey, explore local markets like Hong Kong Market, or simply unwind at your hotel. This is your base before the hill adventure begins. Overnight stay in Siliguri.
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive along the Teesta River to Gangtok, the vibrant and modern capital of Sikkim. The road journey slowly climbs into the hills, offering views of lush forests and charming villages. After checking in, stroll through MG Marg, Gangtok’s pedestrian street lined with cafés, shops, and cultural corners. Overnight in Gangtok.
Today, explore Gangtok's cultural and spiritual side. Visit the Rumtek Monastery, a major seat of Tibetan Buddhism, and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which houses rare Buddhist manuscripts and artifacts. Stop at Do Drul Chorten, Enchey Monastery, and enjoy colorful orchids at the Flower Exhibition Centre. Conclude the day with views from Tashi View Point. Overnight in Gangtok.
Drive through winding mountain roads to visit the sacred, high-altitude Tsomgo Lake (12,310 ft), often frozen in winter. Enjoy a yak ride or simply soak in the mountain beauty. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, built in honor of an Indian soldier believed to protect the region. With a special permit, you may also add Nathula Pass (Indo-China border) for an adventurous twist. Return to Gangtok by evening. Overnight stay.
Start early for your journey to Lachung, a beautiful village in North Sikkim. The route is filled with waterfalls, dense forests, and mountain views. En route, stop at Seven Sisters Waterfall, Naga Falls, and Chungthang Confluence. Arrive in Lachung, where the cold air, wooden houses, and peaceful atmosphere welcome you. Dinner and overnight at a mountain lodge.
Today, experience the majestic Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft), known as the Valley of Flowers, especially between March and May when rhododendrons bloom across the hills. Visit the Hot Springs here. With a special permit and weather permitting, you can go further to Zero Point (15,300 ft), close to the Indo-Tibet border, where you may see snow even in spring. Return to Lachung for a restful evening.
After breakfast, retrace your path back to Gangtok. Enjoy another chance to see Sikkim’s natural beauty along the way, stopping at scenic spots missed earlier. Reach Gangtok by evening, freshen up, and enjoy some free time. Optional: evening visit to the Lal Bazaar market. Overnight in Gangtok.
Take a short drive to Ravangla, a calm town nestled in the lap of the mountains. Visit the impressive Tathagata Tsal (Buddha Park) with a massive 130-foot Buddha statue set against the Himalayan backdrop. Enjoy the peaceful gardens and pathways. Rest or explore local monasteries like Ralong Monastery. Overnight in Ravangla.
Leave Gangtok and drive westward to Pelling, a peaceful town offering panoramic views of Mount Kanchenjunga. On arrival, check in to your hotel or homestay. On the way or in the evening, visit Rabdentse Ruins (Sikkim’s second capital) and the serene Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the state’s oldest. Overnight in Pelling.
Today is packed with natural and cultural highlights. Begin with Kanchenjunga Waterfalls and Rimbi Falls, both set in lush, pristine settings. Visit Khecheopalri Lake, sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus, where even leaves are not allowed to touch the water. Experience the thrilling Pelling Skywalk, India’s first glass-bottomed walkway, and the towering Chenrezig Statue nearby. Overnight in Pelling.
Travel to Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim, known for its historical and spiritual significance. Walk to the Norbugang Coronation Throne, visit Dubdi Monastery (the oldest in Sikkim), and enjoy forest walks around this peaceful village. Yuksom is also the base for treks to Goechala, though here you can just soak in the serenity. Overnight in Yuksom.
Drive to Kalimpong, a quiet hill station with colonial architecture and monasteries. The route brings you back into West Bengal, and the pace of life slows down again. On arrival, take a relaxing walk through the heritage town. Overnight in Kalimpong.
Visit Zang Dhok Palri Monastery and Durpin Dara Hill for sweeping valley views. Explore the famous Cactus Nursery, home to hundreds of exotic species. Stop at Morgan House, a charming British-era colonial bungalow. The town is known for its peaceful atmosphere and unique blend of Indian and Tibetan cultures. Overnight in Kalimpong.
Descend back to Siliguri, once again traveling through tea gardens and winding hillside roads. After arrival, relax at your hotel or shop for Darjeeling tea, handlooms, or souvenirs in the local markets. Optional visit to ISKCON Temple or North Bengal Science Centre. Overnight in Siliguri.
