After breakfast, begin your scenic drive along the Teesta River to Gangtok, the vibrant and modern capital of Sikkim. The road journey slowly climbs into the hills, offering views of lush forests and charming villages. After checking in, stroll through MG Marg, Gangtok’s pedestrian street lined with cafés, shops, and cultural corners. Overnight in Gangtok.
Today, explore Gangtok's cultural and spiritual side. Visit the Rumtek Monastery, a major seat of Tibetan Buddhism, and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which houses rare Buddhist manuscripts and artifacts. Today, experience the majestic Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft), known as the Valley of Flowers, especially between March and May when rhododendrons bloom across the hills. Visit the Hot Springs here. With a special permit and weather permitting, you can go further to Zero Point (15,300 ft), close to the Indo-Tibet border, where you may see snow even in spring. Return to Lachung for a restful evening.
After breakfast, retrace your path back to Gangtok. Enjoy another chance to see Sikkim’s natural beauty along the way, stopping at scenic spots missed earlier. Reach Gangtok by evening, freshen up, and enjoy some free time. Optional: evening visit to the Lal Bazaar market. Overnight in Gangtok.
