Your adventure begins with your arrival in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. After checking into your hotel and freshening up, head out to visit the Kamakhya Temple, a revered Shakti Peeth perched on Nilachal Hill, attracting pilgrims from across the country. Later in the day, you can stroll through the local markets for traditional Assamese handlooms and crafts. In the evening, opt for a sunset river cruise on the majestic Brahmaputra River, where the golden hues of the sky reflect beautifully on the water. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
After breakfast, begin your journey towards the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its population of Indian one-horned rhinoceros. The drive takes you through scenic Assamese countryside, with tea gardens, bamboo groves, and village life along the way. On arrival, check in to your jungle lodge or eco-resort and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by nature. Dinner and overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Today starts with an early morning Jeep Safari in the park’s Central or Western range, giving you a chance to spot rhinos, wild elephants, swamp deer, and a variety of birds including hornbills and pelicans. After breakfast, visit the Kaziranga Orchid & Biodiversity Park, showcasing regional flora and traditional dance performances (based on timing). In the afternoon, explore nearby tribal villages or visit a local tea estate to understand the process of tea production. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
After a relaxed breakfast, depart for Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The journey winds through lush hills and forested terrain. Midway, take a refreshing stop at the serene Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani, surrounded by pine-covered hills – perfect for photos and refreshments. Arrive in Shillong by evening, check into your hotel, and enjoy a relaxed evening. You can stroll around Police Bazaar if time permits. Overnight in Shillong.
Start your day by heading to Shillong Peak for panoramic views of the city and rolling hills. Then visit the picturesque Elephant Falls, a multi-tiered waterfall surrounded by forest. Drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra), one of the wettest places on Earth, known for its dramatic cliffs and vibrant greenery. Along the way, stop at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint for breathtaking views. In Cherrapunji, visit Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, and Seven Sisters Falls, cascading down steep cliffs. Explore the Mawsmai Caves, formed of limestone with accessible chambers and interesting rock formations. Optionally, explore Eco Park and local viewpoints. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
Take a scenic drive to Mawlynnong, hailed as Asia’s cleanest village, famous for its tidy lanes, skywalk made of bamboo, and views into Bangladesh. Explore the village on foot, interact with locals, and visit the living root bridge nearby. Then continue to Dawki, where the Umngot River flows so clearly that boats appear to float on air. Enjoy a boat ride, explore the India–Bangladesh border area, and return by evening. Overnight stay in Mawlynnong.
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Guwahati. You can take breaks along the way for tea, snacks, or scenic viewpoints. Once in Guwahati, check into your hotel. If time allows, you may visit the Assam State Museum, Umananda Temple (on Peacock Island), or enjoy some final shopping at Fancy Bazaar. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
