Early Morning after breakfast, drive to Janki Chatti, which is about 36 km from Barkot. The trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri is about 7 km and is moderately ascending but offers brilliant views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape. After having an early breakfast, check out from the hotel at Barkot and drive to Uttarkashi, which is about 100 km from Barkot and will take approximately 4 hours. It lies on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, in fact, and is famous for its temples and peaceful surroundings. On arrival at Uttarkashi, check-in into your lodge and take rest. In the afternoon or evening, you may visit the local attractions like Vishwanath Temple and natural surroundings. Get ready for the Gangotri trek the next day.
After early breakfast, start the drive to Gangotri, which is 100 km from Uttarkashi. It takes around 3 hours to reach via a pleasant drive along the Bhagirathi River. On arrival at Gangotri, visit Gangotri Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. It stands at the beginning of the Ganges River and is one of the primary pilgrimage destinations. Spend time at the temple, savor the spiritual ambiance of this place, and have a glimpse of the pristine surroundings. In the evening, return to Uttarkashi for relaxation and overnight stay for recommencing the journey to Guptkashi the next day.
Post-breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Guptkashi, which is 220 km away from Haridwar and takes approximately 8-9 hours. The drive today is along winding roads and offers views of the Garhwal Himalayas. After arrival in Guptkashi, check into the Guest House and take rest. Guptkashi acts as the base camp for Kedarnath Trek, so use this opportunity for preparing yourself for the hike that starts to Kedarnath.
Start the early morning by taking a drive to Gaurikund, which is 30 km from Guptkashi. From Gaurikund, start the trekking to Kedarnath, famous for steep climb, unparalleled views. Kedarnath is one of the most sacrosanct pilgrimages of Lord Shiva. It stands amidst grandeur provided by the Kedarnath peaks. Visit the temple and explore the surroundings. Return trek to Gaurikund, from where drive back to Guptkashi. The arrival will be in the evening. Relax and rejuvenate after the tiring day.
After having breakfast at the hotel in Guptkashi, proceed to Badrinath via road. This will be approximately 160 km, taking about 7 hours of driving via beautiful mountain roads with great views of the Himalayas and the Alaknanda River. You would reach Badrinath in late afternoon or early evening, hence check into your accommodation and then, if time permits, visit Badrinath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Enjoy the spirituality in the air and night stay at this holy city.
After having breakfast, head towards Joshimath, which is about 45 km away from Badrinath. Joshimath is an important pilgrimage centre and houses several highly revered temples and ashrams. After visiting Joshimath, drive towards Rudraprayag, about 115 km away. It takes about 4-5 hours to drive to Rudraprayag. Rudraprayag is situated at the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, a haven of unbelievably beautiful surroundings. Arrive at Rudraprayag in the evening and check into your hotel to relax after your journey that took the whole day.
Have an early morning breakfast and checkout from your hotel to drive back to Haridwar, which is about 165 km and takes about 5-6 hours. The return journey would be a time for introspection of your pilgrimage and the scenic beauty of the region. Arrive at Haridwar by late afternoon or early evening. Depending on the arrival time, you might want to visit the ghats again, take a walk along the river, or just relax in the city before getting ready for departure.
On the final day, check out of the hotel in Haridwar and drive back towards Delhi. The approximate 220 km journey would take 6-7 hours since the drive takes one through the varied topography of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, to finally drop one into the bustling capital city.
