Today, you’ll begin your journey into the breathtaking Nubra Valley by crossing the legendary Khardung La Pass, which, at 18,390 feet, is one of the world’s highest motorable roads. The landscape changes dramatically as you move from the sand dunes of Hunder to the icy blue shades of Pangong Lake. Situated at an altitude of 14,000 feet, Pangong is famous for its surreal colors that shift with the light ranging from aquamarine to deep blue. The lake stretches over 135 km and even extends into Tibet. Upon arrival, take a peaceful walk along the lakeshore, watch migratory birds in summer, and enjoy the peaceful silence of the mountains. Wake up early to experience the magical sunrise over Pangong Lake a moment where the first golden rays reflect off the still water and surrounding snow-capped peaks. After breakfast, begin your return journey to Leh via the dramatic Chang La Pass (17,586 ft), the third-highest motorable road in the world. The drive offers awe-inspiring views and passes through remote high-altitude villages and army posts. En route, stop at Hemis Monastery, one of Ladakh’s most revered monastic institutions, famous for its annual festival and vibrant religious art.
