Taste of India: A Cooking Class in Authentic Indian Cuisine
In the Indian kitchen, we gather aromatic spices in hand, ready to explore and discover the rich flavors of the Indian land. Welcome to our home cooking class for authentic Indian food! In this class, you will be guided through the process of cooking delicious and flavorful Indian dishes that you can easily recreate at home. We will start by introducing you to the vibrant and diverse cuisine of India, including its history, culture, and the role of spices in Indian cooking. You will learn about the various spices used in Indian cuisine, how to use them, and the health benefits they offer. During the class, our experienced Indian chef will demonstrate how to prepare classic north Indian dishes (which can be customized). You will learn step-by-step how to make these dishes. Our chef will also provide tips and tricks on how to customize the dishes to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs. In addition to cooking, you'll also get a chance to immerse yourself in Indian culture.
In my cooking class, we’re highly excited to teach you how to make a three-course authentic Indian meal. We will start with one of the most famous and beloved drinks in India, called MASALA TEA. Masala tea is a flavorful blend of black tea with milk and spices like ginger, cardamom, and fennel seeds, and it's enjoyed by millions of people all over the country. What better way to enjoy a steaming cup of masala tea than with a delicious, crispy SAMOSA? Samosas are popular snacks in India and are typically filled with savory ingredients like potatoes, peas, and spices. So get ready to learn how to make the perfect cup of masala tea and pair it with a mouth-watering samosa.
After enjoying our starters, we will move towards our main course, which is a typical Indian meal we eat every day for our lunch or dinner called DAAL, accompanied by CHAPATI with a side dish of PANEER TIKKA MASALA. Daal is a hearty and nutritious lentil stew that is a staple food in India. It's packed with protein, fiber, and a rich blend of spices that will leave your taste buds dancing. Chapati is a type of unleavened bread that is typically served with daal and other dishes in India. It's a simple yet delicious accompaniment that's easy to make at home. We will also be learning how to make Paneer Tikka Masala. This is a popular vegetarian dish in India, made with marinated paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a spiced tomato and cream-based sauce. We will be serving the Paneer Tikka Masala with your choice of BIRYANI or LEMON/JEERA RICE or CHAPATIS, which are fragrant and flavorful rice dishes that pair perfectly with the Paneer Tikka Masala and can be customized to your liking. If you prefer your food to be spicier, we can add more chili peppers to the dish. If you prefer a milder taste, we can adjust the spices accordingly. Along with this dish, we will also be serving a refreshing drink called MANGO LASSI, which is made with yogurt and mango pulp. It is the perfect drink to cool down your taste buds after a spicy meal.
Lastly, we will invite you to enjoy the delicious food that we have prepared together. As many of you may know, in India, it is common to sit down on the floor to eat, as our elders believe this is good for digestion. We will follow this custom and enjoy our meal seated on the floor. Additionally, we will use our hands to eat, as this is another common practice in Indian culture. Cutlery will also be provided, but our chef will guide and encourage you to eat using your hands and will explain Indian history. Like how eating with our hands has several benefits, including the ability to feel the texture and temperature of the food, as well as improving digestion. So let's embrace the rich culture of India and enjoy our meal the traditional way! Savour the flavours of India and enjoy the company of your loved ones with us!

Also, in the end, we will be making our desserts. First up, we will make BESAN HALWA, a rich and creamy dessert made with roasted gram flour, ghee, and sugar. This dessert has a unique texture and is perfect for those who love rich, creamy desserts. Finally, we will make KHEER, a rice pudding-like dessert made with rice, milk, and sugar and flavoured with cardamom, saffron, and nuts. One of the best things about these desserts is that they can be customized according to your preferences. If you like your desserts sweeter, we can add more sugar. If you prefer a nuttier taste, we can add more nuts.
